Zia has had a passion for creativity & hairstyling from as far back as she can remember.

 

Emerging from a family of artists of all sorts, her main influence came from her mother Sandra; owner of The Ginger Group Hair

for over 30 years. The Ginger Group is one of the most prestigious salons in her hometown of Calgary, AB - named continuously as one of the top salons in Canada by Flare Magazine. 

 

Having grown up in the salon environment, the art of doing hair was in Zia's blood, holding all positions from reception & customer service to assistant then apprenticing at the salon over the years. It was time to put her talents to work, which eventually took her to Vancouver, BC in 2009. 
 

Upon arrival in Vancouver she was employed at North America's first Blowdry Bar - BLO.  She quickly moved into the position of senior stylist and instructor, an affiliation and position which she has held for over 7 years. In addition to working for Blo, she transitioned into being a full-time freelance hair stylist & groomer in 2011.
 

Over 8 years of professional experience in working with all hair types in both women styling as well as men's grooming. Extensive work in bridal and styling with extensions.

 

Zia's background in acting and modelling from a young age has prepared her greatly for working on film sets, photoshoots and backstage of fashion shows. This has lead to her continued experience in key hairstyling for various media events and live broadcasts and her growing list of celebrity clientele.

In addition to freelancing, in 2016, Zia co-founded creative agency with her sister Tamu - GG media lab, an incubator for creatives - specializing in visual content creation + media marketing.
